Simply Stampin' and St.Luke's -
all in one!
The Simply Stampin' challenge this week is 'Heartfelt' and St.Luke's for this month is 'Love & Lace' so I thought I would combine the two. Both have a Valentine's theme but more on that later!
I used a retired SU heart stamp which I stamped in Versamark, heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Embossing powder and then cut out with my heart punch. Another heart was punched from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the embossed heart was layered on top. As I do not have any lace I improvised and made a lace border to go across the card with the Eyelet Punch - hope I can get away with that! The punched hearts were positioned on top of the border and the sentiment was added. The 'love' sentiment is a stamp from the Outlined Occasions set, free with an order of £45 during SAB, and the 'with' is picked out from the middle of another stamp coloured with a Cherry Cobbler marker.
I am a bit of a cynic when it comes to Valentine's Day - is it just me who thinks it's yet another opportunity for the retailers to cash in? Whilst walking round my local supermarket the other day I found myself asking "what can't you get that's heart shaped"? I think it's lost it's meaning somewhere along the way - but that's just me being miserable I guess :0)
On a different subject - the arrival of snow. This was the scene that greeted me this morning - very pretty I grant you -so long as you can stay inside and just look at it! Oh well better don the wellies and get out shovelling. Enjoy the rest of your weekend x
wow super card love the borders you have created and love the hearts ... lovely design and very elegant ... just doing a bit of blog hopping happy crafting and love sandy xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, very stylish. I think it looks better without proper lace anyway.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Valentine's Day card.
ReplyDeleteMy garden looks like yours! I put a picture of mine on my blog today too. My chickens don't rate the snow very highly! xxx
A cute little card Margaret , love the cherry cobbler on white and isn't the Outlined Occasions set just brilliant ?
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the commercial side of Valentines day; that's why it's so nice to give our loved ones a hand made card !!! Yours is just perfect !

Beautiful and elegant as always Margaret. There's nothing like a hand crafted Valentine's card. I agree with you; far too much on the commercial side!
ReplyDeleteYour snowy scene looks lovely. We haven't had any and I'm glad!
xx
Gorgeous card Margaret, love it :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love the Clean and simple design you've gone for, I reckon you can definitely get away with that border for lace, a trick I use is to pull the cardstock along a bone folder to soften the fibres in the CS, then pleat it, it looks even more like ribbon then!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Simply Stampin this week!

Hi margaret
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card....stunning work as always......
Hugs sylvieXx
Thanks for joining St.Lukes this month x
This is so lovely Margaret - CAS but with impact with that pop of deep red! Love the patterned heart offset from the plain heart and love how you took the trouble to add the word 'with' to the sentiment. These little details can be a faff sometimes but they're so worth the effort! I really like the double punched decorative edge, I should do that more myself as I love it every time I see it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us again at Simply Stampin', always a pleasure to see your lovely work and please do play along with us again soon! Ruth x
Forgot to say - I totally agree that the true meaning of Valenntine's Day has been lost - along with so many other occasions! The retailers obviously don't cash in from the likes of you and me though - we don't cough up for their overpriced tat LOL! Ruth x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Love the double layered heart. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card Margaret, the faux lace is just fine.... the border punches have such intricate designs :0)
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure about Valentines either... Like you say I think it's a money maker for card shops!
