Card Swap Bookmark

For August's card swap Jane has set the challenge of making a tag or a bookmark and this is my effort. I posted this early last week so I hope that Aileen has already received it and it's safe for me to show you now :0) I happen to know that Aileen's favourite colour is purple so I chose Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum for this magnetic bookmark and card. The flower is from my favourite stamp set of the moment - Flower Shop - and the sentiment is from Four You. The actual bookmark was made with the, now retired, Two Tags die (it's not, and won't be, retired in my house though!) decorated with some random stamping on DSP and flowers punched with the Pansy Punch. The bookmark closes over the page using a couple of small, strong magnets and these were covered with some punched cardstock.
Thanks for stopping by, back soon

Graduate Nurse

Those of you who read the post that accompanied my 'science' card will know that I was asked to make a card for a new graduate who was going into nursing and which also incorporated a bookmark. Have you heard the saying 'the impossible we do immediately, miracles take a little longer'? Well that just about summed up my feelings when I received this request :0)
Not to be beaten, I put my thinking cap on and decided to use the ever faithful Owl Builder punch. On this photo the graduate owl looks as though he is stuck on the outside of the tree but actually the hole is punched in the panel of cardstock so in real life he looks as though he is in a hole in the tree trunk. The nurse owl sits on the magnetic bookmark which was made with the Two Tags die.

This is the set I promised to show you, very similar to yesterday's post but using Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade. Made in exactly the same way with the addition of some little butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The wine bottle tag is from the Two Tags die with a hole punched in the top to go over the bottleneck.

Speedy Box!

Today I needed a very quick token gift to say thank you and this holder was made in around 10 mins using the Two Tags die. I cut two of the tags in Wisteria Wonder and partially embossed them (down to the score line) with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, the plain parts were then glued together to form the base. I made a little box to go inside to hold two wrapped chocolate truffles and glued just the base to the holder to keep it in place. The tags were made with stamps from Tiny Tags and cut with the Jewelry Tag punch and the flower made with the Boho Blossoms punch. The little favour box was then held together with a piece of Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon. A very quick, inexpensive gift but perfect when you just want to say thank you.

Ruby Anniversary

Yesterday I was invited out for Sunday lunch some friends to help celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary and they requested that, anyone wishing to, could make a small cash donation to a charity which is very close to their hearts rather than buy gifts. Whilst I was more than happy to do this I couldn't let the day go by without a small gift so I bought them a bottle of bubbly (only telling you this so you know what the tag is for!)

The card is one that I completely CASe'd from Ruth, a DT member at Simply Stampin', and her card is here. I had already been asked to make a couple of cards for the same occassion so I was running out of ideas for a card from me when I came upon Ruth's gorgeous card - so thanks Ruth you helped me out no end :0)
The colour combo is Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake and uses an SAB set from last year called Sweet Summer. The hearts are punched with the Small Heart punch and decorated with Basic Rhinestones and the numbers are cut with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and run through the BigShot in the Square Lattice Embossing folder. The card was finished off with a knot of Linen Thread across the top corner. The tag to go on the bottle was cut with the Two Tags die and the flower was made with Crumb Cake cardstock and the Scallop Circle punch with an Antique Brad in the centre. I made a matching envelope with the Scallop Envelope die to hold the donation to charity.

Simply Stampin' meets the Friday Mashup

Two challenges in one today - Simply Stampin' which is a colour challenge using Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist (more on this later!) and also the Friday Mashup which is a sketch mashed up with Versamark ghosting. Now I did try to do the ghosting technique with ghostly results (sorry ghastly!) so no mashup just the sketch. I thought I may as well use the colours in the SSC and that's where I got it wrong - it should have been Marina Mist but I had it in my head that it was Pacific Point so that's what I used. Never mind Friday Mashup I think I am suffering from Brain Mashup. Anyway onto the card - I started with a Soft Suede card blank matted with Very Vanilla which had been stamped with a flower from Growing Green. Tht tag is cut with the Two Tags die in Pacific Point and the overlay piece in Pink Pirouette with a piece of Soft Suede Taffeta ribbon tied around and a flower from the Boho Blossoms punch added on one side, the sentiment & spray is from Tiny Tags and punched with the Jewelry Tag punch. The flower at the top is made from 6 of the smallest petals on the Blossom Petals punch and 6 of the next size up, all in Pink Pirouette, with a circle in the centre. I saw the idea for this on Mary Fish's site, Stampin'Pretty, but my flower is very different from hers and much smaller. The petals were punched out and then I curled then round a scoring tool to shape them - I am pleased with how it turned out but it is very fiddly and time consuming so I don't think I'll be making many more :0)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and come back tomorrow to see some really easy Disney treat bags.

A Bit More Bling!

Here is another card I have made for the LIM challenge this week - A Bit of Bling. As you can see a 'bit' is the operative word on this card as the bling consists of just 6 Basic Rhinestones (coloured with a red permanent marker) added to the scallops. I coloured the pine cone image from Pines & Poinsettias, with Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Real Red Stampin'Write markers and stamped three times onto Whisper White cardstock then punched the end of the card with the Scallop Border punch. This was then layered onto a piece of Old Olive and Chocolate Chip which had also had the ends scalloped, a piece of Chocolate Chip satin ribbon was tied around the end before positioning onto a DL card blank. The sentiment from Petite Pairs was stamped in Real Red oh, and of course, those all important touches of 'bling' added!
I also made a gift tag, with the Two Tags die, to match - Whisper White cardstock, inked around the edges, an Old Olive Scallop Circle and another pine cone image punched with a circle punch.

Treat Pouches

Here are two little treat pouches I made using the Two Tags die. It is very difficult to credit anyone with this as there are so many similar ones across the web that it's virtually impossible to find out who was the originator but, suffice to say, the original idea was definitely not mine! It is made by cutting two of the larger tags on the die and gluing them together at the bottom and decorating as you wish. Here I have used one of the stamps from Pennant Parade to make the 3D Christmas tree on Real Red and the other with the Polar Bear from Polar Pals on Old Olive which was embossed in the Perfect Polka Dots folder. A piece of ribbon and a piece of the brand new crochet trim was used to tie the top of the pouch.
