Simples Sunday

Today's Simples Sunday card is another entry into this week's LIM challenge - a One Layer, Off the Edge card.
I have used the Simply Stars stamp set which is retiring, the wood mount has already sold out but the clear mount is still available at the moment. I used two of the images and stamped them in Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party. The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts, stamped in Bermuda Bay. I added just a few Basic Rhinestones for a little bit of sparkle!
Enjoy your Sunday

Simples Sunday meets LIM - Masculine

Once again the lovely ladies at LIM have inspired me with their challenge this week which is a Masculine card. So this week's Simples Sunday card is one for the men and is super easy!
The card blank is made from Early Espresso, matted with a panel of Very Vanilla. I stamped and punched the flags from Banner Blast and the co-ordinating punch - both freebies in the SAB promotion. These were fixed onto the card with dimensionals with a piece of Linen Thread placed behind. The sentiments, both inside and out, are from A Dozen Thoughts.
And that's it - told you it was super easy!
Thanks for stopping by and do pop back again this week to see more masculine cards

Simples Sunday Rainbow

Following the LIM challenge theme, Rainbows, I have a couple of cards to show you and a little technique tutorial. The card above is a super simple one and very quick to make. I stamped a flower from Petite Petals in a 'rainbow' of colours and punched them out with the co-ordinating punch. On a card blank I stamped one of the Gorgeous Grunge stamps in Smoky Slate across the card and a sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts underneath. All that was left to do was to position the flowers and finish them with a Basic Rhinestone.

My second card is an easy one as well but a little more difficult than the first! I used an acrylic block and markers for the background, cut out a frame with the Squares Collection Framelits and added some tiny flowers punched with one of the Itty Bitty Shapes punches, finished with a tiny Basic Pearl for the centres. The sentiment is from the Hostess set, Express Yourself.
For those of you who may not have seen the technique to make the background above I have taken a 'step by step' set of photos, shown below.

Colour the block with markers           Spritz generously with water
(this can also be done with ink pads)

Press firmly onto cardstock                 Carefully lift the block
                           leave for a few seconds
Cut to size                                   Make your card!!

Birthday Time at LIM

Congratulations to Less is More on their 3rd birthday - for 3 years the ladies have been tirelessly setting us weekly challenges and goodness knows how much time they have spent visiting everyone's blogs and leaving comments. A big thank you to Chrissie, Mandi and Jen for keeping us all 'challenged' :0)
I also have to thank them for showcasing my baby card this week, apparently Chrissie had to buy the stamp set and ink pad on the strength of seeing my card!!
Anyway onto this week's challenge which is 'Rainbow'. My initial thoughts were to use flags from Banner Blast and the co-ordinating punch but, as I scrolled down, I saw that Jen had already had that idea so I went with a bit of watercolouring instead. I used an aqua painter to paint the rainbow then stamped the image from Love & Sympathy over the top using Elegant Eggplant. This was matted onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and then onto a card blank. I thought this sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts went quite well with the card! Then finished it off with three Basic Pearls.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend

House of Cards Colour Inspiration

Two posts today, and why, because I'm very disorganised this week - well it sounds better than because I'm daft!!!
The House of Cards challenge this week is a colour inspiration in the style of Fun & Cute and I made this earlier in the week, completely forgot about it and have just found it after a massive tidy up in my craft room!
I thought I was too late but a visit to the HOC site tells me I have just under an hour to submit so a very hurried photo (in dusk so hence the rubbish quality!) and a super quick post. The colours I chose to use are Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Basic Black along with Zoo Babies, A Dozen Thoughts, Summer Silhouettes stamp sets and the tufts of grass from the now retired Dinoroar.
Phew made it just in time!!

A Splash of Colour

Well it's Saturday again so time for another LIM challenge and, this week, Mandi and Jen have asked for a 'Splash of Colour(s)' on a dark background. I had an idea in my head on the way to my craft room but, believe me, it wasn't this or anything like it! However I noticed a new stamp set, A Dozen Thoughts, on my desk and this particular sentiment was crying out to be used - hence not the idea in my head. Anyway onto the card -
I started by stamping one of the Chalk Talk frames onto Real Red cardstock then cut out with the matching framelit, onto this I added a Basic Black circle and the aforementioned sentiment punched with a Circle Punch. The card base is Basic Black with a slightly smaller mat onto which I did a little embossing on two corners purely to add a bit of texture and fixed to the card with dimensionals. I finished the card with a knot of Real Red Taffeta Ribbon and added the tag on top.
Have a great weekend and if you're off to a firework party stay safe. I have a (belated) Halloween party to go to later at my Grandchildren's so do pop back tomorrow for 'Simples Sunday' where I will show you some really easy treat pouches which I have made for the children (and some adapted ones for Christmas!)
