LIM - Challenge Choice

The theme at LIM (for the past two weeks!) has been to choose a previous challenge and here is my entry - just in time!!
I have chosen Week 146 - 'Use DSP in a CAS way' but it also fits in with Week 55 - 'Punches or Diecuts' and Week 10 - 'Sentiment Only' and maybe even more - who knows???
I have used Primrose Petals DSP cut with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies for the word 'happy' and the 'birthday' is a stamp from Memorable Moments. The bunting in the corner is a sneak peak of an up and coming stamp set and co-ordinating punch. A few Basic Rhinestones gave it the finishing touch.
Now it's not very often that I am pleased with things that I make but, I have to say, I did quite like this result so - as I have 4 birthday cards to make this month and none of the recipients know each other - I decided to make 3 more!!

Baked Brown Sugar (with Basic Pearls)

                                            Basic Black

and Perfect Plum!

Which one do you like best??

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back soon

Fifth Day of Christmas

Unfortunately my  LIM entry for this week's 'Twelve Days of Christmas' didn't quite go as planned! Not having any lords, ladies, pipers or drummer stamps I opted for 5 Gold Rings but couldn't find a suitable stamp - then I had a thought - I would use my circle punches and cut them from Brushed Gold cardstock. Once I had done this I stamped the baubles and sentiment in Versamark and embossed them in gold. I was just about to position my gold rings when it struck me that this could possibly be a One Layer week and, on looking again, found it was! What to do now? Well I used one of the punched rings as a template and drew around the inside with a gold marker pen. Hey presto a OLC, just a pity that my gold pen isn't very good so, after taking the photo, I glued the gold cardstock rings back in place!! (see below) Note to self - ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS :0)

* Recently I have had a few people asking for instructions for things that I've shown on my blog and I am always happy to help. However if these requests come through the comment section I am not always able to find contact details. So, if you want to ask me anything, drop me an email and then I can reply!!!
Have a great weekend

Simples Sunday

As promised yesterday I am back with my combined Simples Sunday and LIM card which is 'Metallic Plus One Colour'
I have used silver embossing and Night of Navy, as really I like this combination, along with the Simply Stars stamp set and a sentiment from Embellished Events.
The stars were stamped in Versamark on a square of Whisper White cardstock and silver embossed, then matted onto Night of Navy and a white card blank. You can see the shine of the embossing in the smaller photo above. The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy, punched out with the Word Window Punch, then matted onto a Modern Label. A few Basic Rhinestones were added for a bit of sparkle.
I have to say I am much happier with this card than the one I made yesterday, a lot more CAS and more my style :0)
I hope you are having a good weekend and I'll be back soon

LIM - Metallic & a Colour

Firstly can I say a big thank you to Chrissie and Jen for showcasing my 'Bird' card over at LIM this week - it's very much appreciated ladies! (the card is shown bottom right)
Now onto this week's challenge which is 'Metallic & a Colour' and my card uses some retired SU products. I have to say I'm not pleased with the end result but I don't have time to make another at the moment so watch this space!
The 'metallic' part of the card is a Brushed Silver heart (cut with the retired Heart of Hearts Embosslit) and the colour is Real Red. After cutting the heart I punched a star using one of the Merry Minis punches and placed a piece of Real Red cardstock behind. I stamped the sentiment from, the also retired, Heard from the Heart stamp set onto Whisper White matted onto Real Red and a knot of Real Red Tafftea ribbon tied round before layering on a card blank. The embossed heart was then fixed on the card with dimensionals and a Basic Rhinestone added to the centre of the star.
I think it is the silver and red combination that I don't like - maybe I should have chosen a gold heart with the red or used green with the silver, who knows? Anyway I'm sure to be back for this challenge as I already have an idea for 'Simples Sunday'. In hindsight perhaps I should have stuck to my original idea and called it 'Simples Saturday' :0)
Have a great weekend

Sparkly Simples Sunday

For my Simples Sunday card this week I have, again, taken inspiration from the LIM challenge - 'Sparkle'.
To make this ultra easy card I punched a star, from the Merry Minis Punch Pack, in a piece of Silver Glimmer paper then punched out with a circle punch. This was fixed in the centre of a square of white card then onto a 4" card blank (oh I forgot to say that I rounded the corners first!). The sentiment, from Embellished Events, was stamped in silver then Basic Rhinestones randomly dotted around to finish the card.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

LIM - Sparkle

Over at LIM this morning they have a guest designer - Gillian from Made with Sparkle - so this week's challenge, taken from her blog name, is to make a card with Sparkle.
Not being a glittery or sparkly type of person (or crafter!) I have kept my card very simple with just hints of sparkle.
I added score lines to a piece of Whisper White cardstock before matting onto Old Olive and a plain white card blank then stamped a sentiment in Old Olive (the sentiment is now retired but one I really like). I placed some punched Christmas trees from one of the Merry Minis Punch pack, four in Old Olive and one in Glimmer Paper, just above the score lines and finished off with some Basic Rhinestones.
Have a great weekend

Owl Santa

Here I am back again with yet another entry for the LIM challenge - A Christmas Bird. This time I have used the ever faithful Owl Builder and Bird Builder punches to make a Santa Owl. he is made from Crumb Cake, Real Red and Basic Black cardstock with a teeny piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. His hat was stamped from Embellished Events, cut out with paper snips and a bobble punched with one of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.
For the background I took a square of Basic Black cardstock and swiped the Whisper White inkpad across the bottom to make the 'snow' and some Dazzling Diamonds for the sparkle. As it is meant to be a night scene I used just the tree bauble stamp from Warmth & Wonder to represent lights on a Christmas tree and the twinkly stars (again a stamp from Warmth & Wonder) are stamped with the Silver Metallic Encore pad. The finished panel was then matted onto a Basic Black card blank with a sentiment from Petite Pairs, stamped in silver, added to the bottom of the card.

Simples Sunday

The LIM challenge this week is to make a Christmas card incorporating a bird so what could be more simple than to use this image from the Warmth & Wonder Hostess set? I coloured the stamp with Basic Black, Real Red and Old Olive markers, stamped onto Whisper White and cut out with the Large Oval Punch. This was then matted onto a larger Real Red Oval, cut with one of the Ovals Collection Framelits. A piece of Real Red Taffeta ribbon was fixed across a piece of white cardstock, a bow added to the oval and then this was matted onto a white card blank.
I appreciate that you may not have this particular stamp set but the real purpose of this card is to show that using a single stamp with a couple of dies or punches can make something very simple but effective.
(Edited to add - my bird, being a Cardinal, should have been red! Whoops, shows how much I know about birds!!! Thanks Chrissie)
Enjoy your Sunday and do pop back tomorrow to see a Christmas Owl!

Christmas Robin

As soon as I saw the LIM challenge this morning, which is to make a Christmas card using a bird, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This little robin, made with the Bird Builder punch, is something I have done many times before but I do love him. Really simple to make - just punch out the bird using Crumb Cake cardstock and ink him however you wish using sponge daubers. My little bird is sitting on a Pear Pizzazz wreath, made from the Stippled Blossoms leaf stamp, and the 'baubles' are blobs of Dazzling Details. A sentiment from Petite Pairs, stamped in Real Red, and a bow of Linen Thread were added before matting onto a panel of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and then onto a Crumb Cake card blank.
Have a great weekend and, hopefully, I will be back tomorrow with a super easy 'Christmas bird'

Simples Sunday

Once again I'm combining the LIM challenge - 'Use DSP in a CAS Way' - along with my Simples Sunday post. Yesterday's entry was very simple and this one is just as simple!
I used a panel of Naturals White cardstock, punched three butterflies with the Elegant Butterfly punch, stamped the antennae from Papillon Potpourri and a sentiment from Four You in Crisp Cantaloupe then added three score lines. A strip of Crisp Cantaloupe DSP was fixed to the Naturals White card blank before placing the punched panel on top. All that was left was to add a few Basic Rhinestones to the butterflies.

DSP for LIM

The challenge at LIM this week is to use Designer Paper in a CAS way and this is my super quick card.
I simply took a piece of DSP from the Modern Medley pack and cut out three baubles using a die from the Holiday Ornaments Framelits (carried over from last years winter catalogue). Before fixing the baubles to the card I stamped three bows, from Create a Cupcake, using the Silver Encore Metallic inkpad and a sentiment from Greetings of the Season (also carried over). The baubles were added with a Basic Rhinestone at the top, the panel matted onto Basic Black cardstock and then onto a white card blank. What could be simpler?
I must apologise for my lack of comments on last week's challenge entries but it has been a busy week and I just couldn't get round to it - will try harder this week :0)
Have a great weekend
