Onto my Simples Sunday card

A really simple card for you today using some DSP from the Fresh Prints Stack. This is a beautiful stack of paper and is only available until the end of June from the Spring/Summer catalogue. I matted it onto Crumb Cake cardstock and tied a knot of Crumb Cake Seam Binding around before matting onto a card blank. A butterfly, from Papillon Potpourri, was stamped in Coastal Cabana and punched with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. This was positioned on top of another butterfly punched from Coastal Cabana cardstock. The sentiment, punched with the Word Window Punch, is from Express Yourself and matted onto a Large Oval. The pearls are from my own stash because they matched the Crumb Cake so well!!

A Retirement Card, the Retiring List and a special offer!

Last week a good friend at work retired and I was asked (as usual!) to make a leaving card for everyone to sign. It was another large card - A4 - which I always find quite difficult but everyone loved it so that was ok. For the sentiment I used a couple of retired stamps and the name was cut with (the also retired) Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies. All this was on a Whisper White Oval cut from the Ovals Framelits and matted onto a Summer Starfruit Scallop Oval, from the same set. The larger flowers were made with the Flower Shop and Petite Petals stamp sets and co-ordinating punches and the tiny flowers are from one of this year's SAB sets punched with an Itty Bitty Punch, with leaves from the Bird Builder Punch. The card was finished off with a bit of paper piercing, some scoring, a knot of Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon and a couple of Papillon Potpourri butterflies - oh and of course some pearls!!

LIM - One Layer Thank You

Hello again. I can't believe it's been almost a week since my last blog post, where has that time gone? I have been busy with family, work and also some crafting but the cards I have been making are commissioned cards so I'm not able to show you until the 'occasions' are over.
However I am back today with an entry to this week's LIM challenge which is a One Layer Thank You card.
I used a 4" card blank and masked a 2cm strip across the card with post-it's before stamping an image from Papillon Potpourri in Pacific Point and Summer Starfruit. After removing the mask I stamped the sentiment from Four You and then simply scored four lines to add a border to the butterflies. A few tiny rhinestones were added to finish the card.

Less is More Sketch

Today's LIM challenge is a sketch (see top right) and here is my offering. I started by cutting an aperture in a piece of cardstock using one of the Window Frames Collection framelits then, on another piece of card, I stamped the Hardwood stamp in Soft Suede. This was positioned behind the aperture before fixing to a card blank. The sentiment is from the Hostess set Simply Sketched, the Coastal Cabana butterflies from Papillon Potpourri and the tiny Pool Party flowers from the SAB set Banner Blast. A few Basic Pearls were added to finish the card.

Simples Sunday Shadows

The LIM challenge this week is a one layer card using shadowing so, once again, I've used that theme for my Simples Sunday card.
I started by making a 'faux' frame with one of the Square Framelits - this is done by placing the framelit onto the cardstock with the cutting part facing upwards and the pressure makes an indentation in the cardstock rather than cutting it. I put a piece of copy paper on the top so it cut out a square to use as a mask. (The smaller picture shows the frame much better)
The leafy stem from Summer Silhouettes was stamped three times without re-inking to give the shadow effect using Old Olive and the same was done with the flower (also from Summer Silhouettes) but this time in Rich Razzleberry. I added two butterflies from Papillon Potpourri to the top corner, again stamping with re-inking. I wanted something subtle to embellish the flowers and butterflies so, rather than pearls or rhinestones, I used tiny dots of Dazzling Details. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Card Swap with a Difference

Our card swap group has branched out into making a 3D item this month - which suits me down to the ground!!
Jane sent us a link to a YouTube video post-it note holder, made by the very talented Angie Kennedy Juda (which can be seen here) as a guide to the size it should be but, other than that, she gave us free reign to create our own version.
It was my turn to make something for Jane and I happen to know that her favourite colour is pink so I used Pink Pirouette cardstock and DSP for the holder which matched perfectly with a pink post-it note pad I already had. I used a Labels Collection Framelit to shape the front of the cover and added a (retired) label, punched with the Extra Large Oval punch. Five flowers, punched from one of the Itty Bitty Punch Pack with a tiny Basic Pearl for the centre, and a Papillon Potpourri butterfly decorated the front cover. Two small magnets keep the holder closed.

Another one for LIM!

Another card for this week's LIM challenge - Round & Round. For this one I took one of the pieces of DSP from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, available from the Spring/Summer catalogue, to use as the backing. I fixed a piece of Crumb Cake Seam Binding around the card before adding the sentiment which was punched with the Scallop Circle Punch. Three butterflies, from Papillon Potpourri, were stamped in Coastal Cabana, punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch and positioned around the circle. A few Basic Pearls were all that was needed to finish the card.

Fancy fold for and 80 year old!

This is a commissioned card I have been asked to make for the Auntie of a work colleague - with the brief of Lilac & Cream in a box!
Three stamp sets have been used and they are Everything Eleanor, Papillon Potpourri and Summer Silhouettes with a colour scheme of Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla. The roses were made using a Scallop Circle punch with leaves from the Bird Builder punch and the sentiment was computer generated.
For the box (bottom right) I used Wisteria Wonder cardstock and Very Vanilla DSP along with a retired sentiment.

Gift box

As promised this is the gift box I made to co-ordinate with yesterday's Simples Sunday card. (If you missed it scroll down to the previous post) It measures 3" square by 3" high.
I think it was because the sun was so bright yesterday that the cardstock looks bright lilac when it is, in fact, Perfect Plum! Anyway it matches the card and the contents so that's all that matters :0)
I made the lid with Brushed Silver cardstock and the silver stamped butterflies are from Papillon Potpourri. I wrapped some Perfect Plum Taffeta Ribbon around the box lid and added a Perfect Plum Scallop Circle matted with a Brushed Silver Circle on top. The butterflies are a stamped one and the other punched with the co-ordinating punch with three Basic Rhinestones for the body.
Would you like to see what's in it? Well it's a pretty Bath Fizzer and the wrapper matches perfectly with Perfect Plum - even if the photo doesn't look like it!

Life is still rather hectic here as my sister and I still have arrangements to make for Dad's funeral so I will be back when I can. Until next time - happy crafting!

Simples Sunday

I am a little late with my Simples Sunday post today due to the fact I've only just made the card!

This is a card I have made to co-ordinate with a gift box (pop back tomorrow to see that). I have chosen the colours and theme to match the small gift to go inside the box, those being Silver, Perfect Plum and butterflies.

I started by stamping the 'splodges' from Gorgeous Grunge in both colours, added a sentiment, matted the panel onto Perfect Plum then onto a card blank and strategically placed three Papillon Potpourri butterflies punched out with the co-ordinating punch. I added three Basic Rhinestones and the card was done - Simples!

Simples Sunday - Winter Blues

My 'Simples Sunday' card today is also my second entry into this week's LIM challenge - Winter Blues.
This card couldn't be simpler - one butterfly stamped 6 times and one sentiment, matted and layered - job done!!
I used Night of Navy, Pacific Point and Soft Sky inks and stamped in each colour again without re-inking to give a lighter shade. The butterfly is from Papillon Potpourri and the sentiment is from Sassy Salutations. Just for a bit of dimension I added a punched Pacific Point butterfly and a few of the tiny Basic Pearls.

Simples Sunday

Once again I'm combining the LIM challenge - 'Use DSP in a CAS Way' - along with my Simples Sunday post. Yesterday's entry was very simple and this one is just as simple!
I used a panel of Naturals White cardstock, punched three butterflies with the Elegant Butterfly punch, stamped the antennae from Papillon Potpourri and a sentiment from Four You in Crisp Cantaloupe then added three score lines. A strip of Crisp Cantaloupe DSP was fixed to the Naturals White card blank before placing the punched panel on top. All that was left was to add a few Basic Rhinestones to the butterflies.
