A 'Dressy' Celebration!

My card today is one I made a few weeks ago for a friend who reached the grand age of 50! She's a very modern lady so I needed to make something a bit special and sparkly and this was the result. It uses the Dress Up Framelits with the dress made in Basic Black and the shrug in Silver Glimmer Paper. For the sentiment I inked part of a stamp from Create a Cupcake, the 'you're' is a stamp from Oh,Hello which I masked and inked in Stazon and the 50 was cut with the now retired Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies.
Thanks for stopping by

DSP for LIM

The challenge at LIM this week is to use Designer Paper in a CAS way and this is my super quick card.
I simply took a piece of DSP from the Modern Medley pack and cut out three baubles using a die from the Holiday Ornaments Framelits (carried over from last years winter catalogue). Before fixing the baubles to the card I stamped three bows, from Create a Cupcake, using the Silver Encore Metallic inkpad and a sentiment from Greetings of the Season (also carried over). The baubles were added with a Basic Rhinestone at the top, the panel matted onto Basic Black cardstock and then onto a white card blank. What could be simpler?
I must apologise for my lack of comments on last week's challenge entries but it has been a busy week and I just couldn't get round to it - will try harder this week :0)
Have a great weekend

OTT Cupcakes!

This is a birthday card I made for the lovely Sue, a member of the Card Swap Group. Sue is a fan of orange & yellow and I wanted to steer away from the usual flowers so I thought 'cupcakes'! A bit OTT in my opinion but the thought was there :0)
Made using the Create-a-Cupcake set and co-ordinating punch in Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight with a touch of gold thrown in. The little hearts are from the Bird Builder punch and the flowers from Itty Bitty Punch Pack, with a sentiment from the now retired Curly Cute.
Hope you had a great day Sue.

Card Swap Birthday

This is the card I made for Aileen, a member of the Card Swap group, for her birthday yesterday. It was made in a bit of a rush because Jane, the organiser, was a little late telling us so it needed to be made and posted post haste! Poor Jane thought we had another couple of weeks to go so was in a bit of a panic emailing us and said that maybe we should look on it as a way of brushing up on our emergency card making skills :0) No problem Jane, I'm sure we can all rise to that challenge.
I made this in Aileen's favourite colour of purple (Elegant Eggplant) and used the Flower Shop stamp set. The flower in the centre of the row was stamped then punched out with the Pansy Punch and matted using dimensionals. I made the tag from one of the Chalk Talk Framelits and the sentiment is from Create a Cupcake.
Happy birthday Aileen and I hope you had a great day!

Simples Sunday

Today's Simples Sunday card is one I have made for my Mum to give to my youngest grandaughter who will be 3 next week.
I have used a butterfly stamp from Papillon Potpourri and the heart from Create a Cupcake and stamped both in Blushing Bride (another new colour from SU) onto Whisper White, along with a sentiment from Sassy Salutations. This was then matted onto Pink Pirouette cardstock and, before layering onto a white card blank, I tied a piece of Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon across one corner. Three more butterflies were stamped and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch then added on top of the already stamped butterflies. I added a few Basic Rhinestones for a bit of sparkle. Really simple!

Butterflies and Cake

I was asked to make a 40th birthday card last week and was given a brief of purple, butterflies and a cake! Well here are the butterflies, punched with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches, in Elegant Eggplant cardstock and DSP and they are sitting on swirls from Wedding Sweet. The bottom edge of both the Whisper White and Elegant Eggplant panels were cut with a die from Adorning Accents Edgelits and embossed with the matching folder. The two tiny butterflies at the bottom were cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The sentiment is made up with stamps from Memorable Moments using a stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment. Well that's the purple and butterflies taken care of but where's the cake?
Here inside!

Less is More and Pink!

Oh dear there is a colour challenge at LIM this week and, as you can see, it involves PINK! I have to admit that I don’t like pink – and I like working with it even less. However this is a challenge site and it was very definitely a challenge for me this morning. I have come up with two cards and in all honesty I don’t like either of them but am posting them just to show you I tried :0)

What do you think?

For this card I used the butterfly stamp from the SAB set, Bloomin’ Marvelous, and stamped in graduated colours using Rose Red (stamped off first to give a shade of pink), Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink onto Whisper White cardstock. I added some paper piercing under the butterflies using the Essentials Paper Piercing pack (another SAB freebie) and this was matted onto Naturals White cardstock which also had two rows of paper piercing. A piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon was placed over the join before layering onto a Crumb Cake card blank. A few gems and part of a sentiment from A Word for You were added to finish the card.

My second card uses Create a Cupcake stamp set and co-ordinating punch. The frosting was stamped in Pink Pirouette onto Very Vanilla cardstock and the cake case was punched from Pretty in Pink DSP. The sprinkles and bow were stamped in Melon Mambo as was the sentiment from Bring on the Cake. This was matted onto Crumb Cake and then onto a Naturals Ivory card blank before adding two tiny butterflies, cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.
Please feel free to criticise – I promise I won’t be upset :(0
Come back tomorrow for another Simples Sunday card but, until then, have a great weekend x
