Butterflies and Cake

I was asked to make a 40th birthday card last week and was given a brief of purple, butterflies and a cake! Well here are the butterflies, punched with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches, in Elegant Eggplant cardstock and DSP and they are sitting on swirls from Wedding Sweet. The bottom edge of both the Whisper White and Elegant Eggplant panels were cut with a die from Adorning Accents Edgelits and embossed with the matching folder. The two tiny butterflies at the bottom were cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The sentiment is made up with stamps from Memorable Moments using a stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment. Well that's the purple and butterflies taken care of but where's the cake?
Here inside!

Golden Wedding

Today's card is one I've been asked to make for a Golden Wedding Anniversary. I used the flourish stamps from Wedding Sweet and gold embossed them onto Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment is from Memorable Moments and this is also gold embossed. I made the little flowers from Brushed Gold cardstock, punched with one of the Itty Bitty Shapes punches, and placed one of the smallest Basic Pearls in their centres. The ribbon was taken from my stash as, sadly, SU do not make a gold ribbon (as yet!). The panel was matted onto Brushed Gold cardstock and then onto an A5 card blank. I made a box to put the card in, which was made from non-SU white card, with ovals punched for handles and a Scallop Oval trim. The sentiment from Love & Laughter was gold embossed and punched with the Decorative Label punch, matted onto a Brushed Gold Decorative Label which had been cut in half. Three white flowers and some Basic Pearls were added.
Well it's Friday again and the weekend will soon be upon us - have a good one and come back soon x

Framelit Embossing

Today's card is using one of the Framelits dies to emboss rather than to cut. This is done by placing the cardstock on the non-cutting side of the die and using a silicone mat along with the die cutting machine plate(s). As all machines are different you do have to play around with this to make sure you get the sandwich right but it is worth it in the end, so I suggest you use some scrap card to start with and once you get the sandwich right, write it down because, if you're anything like me, you'll never remember next time!
After embossing a piece of Whisper White I then used the negative part of the diecut as a mask and stamped the image from Wedding Sweet in Rich Razzleberry. Perfect Plum and Rich Razzleberry butterflies, cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, were scattered around and some Perfect Pearls added to their bodies. The sentiment was punched with the Modern label punch and layered onto a Rich Razzleberry label which is cut with one of the Lots of Tags dies. This was layered onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock before glueing onto a card blank.

Silver Wedding

Another special celebration card, this time for a silver wedding anniversary. The inspiration for this came from Gill, a fellow 'Pink Lady' SU demo, and her card can be seen here.
I started by making an A5 card blank with plain white cardstock and, onto this, matted a panel of Brushed Silver cardstock. Onto a slightly smaller piece of Whisper White I stamped two of the stamps from Wedding Sweet and the sentiment in Versamark and then heat embossed in silver. The 25 was cut from Brushed Silver cardsock with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies, and I used Vicky's brilliant idea of cutting more than one layer and glueing them together to make them thicker. Two tiny hearts were added just below the sentiment and these were punched with the Owl punch. A small bow of (non SU) ribbon was placed to the right of the numbers and the card was finished by adding some Basic Rhinestones dotted around the card. The top left picture shows the box I made to put the card in 9made up as I went along!) and I used an embossed heart, punched with the Large Heart and run through the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder, as a closure for the flap.
