Another LIM card

Here is another card I made for the LIM Colour Challenge (see inspiration photo top right). I have to admit this is not a colour combo that I ever would have chosen but after making yesterday's card I found that I really do quite like it!
This one uses a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Pacific Point, a sentiment from Work of Art and some butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.
A really simple card but one which I'm really pleased with.

Simples Sunday, LIM Colour Challenge and Happy Birthday Sarah!

A heavy title but that is exactly what this card is - my Simples Sunday card, my LIM entry in this week's colour challenge and a Happy Birthday to Sarah (one of the design team at LIM).
The ladies provided the colour inspiration photo (top right) and, as we were not expected to use all the colours, I chose three. You will see that my colours are not as bright as the challenge colours but I used the nearest I could - those being Pear Pizzazz, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight.
The stripes are stamped with a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and the sentiment is from a new set called 'Label Something' punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. To finish the card I added three of the smallest butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.
I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and managed to dodge the rain and thunderstorms yesterday.
Have a good week and I'll be back soon

Cherry Cobbler Birthday

I have another very simple card for you today and one which was made for a friend who loves red. I started with a panel of Whisper White matted onto Cherry Cobbler and stamped the sentiment from Sassy Salutations. I then wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine around in a criss cross shape before layering onto a white card blank. A Cherry Cobbler flower, cut from the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and a butterfly from Beautiful Wings Embosslits were positioned onto the card and it was finished off with a couple of Basic Pearls.

Little Girls Card

The last of my commissioned cards was one for the sister of yesterdays new baby! I used an image from the retired set, Everybunny, stamped in Staz-on and coloured with a blender pen. This was then punched with a Circle Punch and matted onto a Wisteria Wonder Scallop Circle. The '3' was cut from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies (also retired) and the sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. A few Pink Pirouette butterflies cut from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die were added just because a little girl has to have some pink!!

Explosion Boxes

These are the little gifts I made for the ladies who attended my class last week (and of course one for my sister who always comes to help me!) They are made from Island Indigo, Baja Breeze and Old Olive cardstock and decorated with co-ordinating DSP from the Twitterpated pack. Inside are butterflies punched with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches and Basic Rhinestones. As you can see they hold a battery operated tealight which had also been decorated with DSP and a tiny butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die.

Butterflies and Cake

I was asked to make a 40th birthday card last week and was given a brief of purple, butterflies and a cake! Well here are the butterflies, punched with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches, in Elegant Eggplant cardstock and DSP and they are sitting on swirls from Wedding Sweet. The bottom edge of both the Whisper White and Elegant Eggplant panels were cut with a die from Adorning Accents Edgelits and embossed with the matching folder. The two tiny butterflies at the bottom were cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The sentiment is made up with stamps from Memorable Moments using a stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment. Well that's the purple and butterflies taken care of but where's the cake?
Here inside!

Scientific Challenge!

Well I've certainly been set a bit of a challenge this week by a work colleague. Two of her friends have recently graduated - one is going into nursing and the other into a scientific career and she has asked me to make cards for them. The nurse/graduate card is a work in progress at the moment but, after a lot of brain racking, this is the scientific one I have come up with. I have used a stamp from Just Believe and another from Summer Silhouettes to create the 'meadow' and the Elegant Eggplant butterflies are cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The magnifying glass was made from Brushed Silver cardstock, acetate and Circle Punches and the handle was cut freehand. I added a bit of piercing around the circle and handle, again freehand, just to give a bit of texture. The sentiment is a retired one and I finished the card with a few Basic Pearls.
I will be back to show you my other graduate card when it's finished!!

LIM & Colour Q

I told you I'd be back and here is my second post of the day! This time a card made specifically with this LIM challenge 'Scallops' in mind. Before making this card I popped onto the Colour Q challenge site and I was really keen to have a go at their colour challenge which is Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White. So here is my card that fits the criteria for both challenges. I started by using my brand new Simply Scored Borders Plate to emboss two rows of scallops onto a piece of Whisper White. I masked this off with a piece of copy paper before stamping my three Wisteria Wonder flowers, from Summer Silhouettes and added the stamens in Always Artichoke. I masked off the flowers with some pre-cut post-it note flowers (I keep these in with my stamps so they can be used several times) before stamping the leaves in Lucky Limeade, then stamped again without re-inking to give different shades. After removing the masks I embossed a straight line above the scallops. The sentiment, from Teeny Tiny Wishes, was stamped in Always Artichoke, punched out with the Small Oval and matted onto a Wisteria Wonder Scallop Oval which had been paper pierced. A small loop of Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon was added and the sentiment placed on top with dimensionals. Three small flowers were stamped in Pool Party and three butterflies from Beautiful Wings Embosslits were added and a few Basic Pearls finished the card off.
Thank you for stopping by and, if you pop back tomorrow you will see my Simples Sunday cards for this week. Take care and keep warm x

Colour Q

It's been a long time since I entered a card for the Colour Q challenge but today was the day to change that and I've made, not one but, two cards!! As you will see from the inspiration picture (top right) there are four colours plus white but the two blues are no longer current SU colours in the UK so I have used Bashful Blue and Pacific Point which I thought were the closest.
For my first card I used a stamp from the now (sadly) retired set, Easter Blossoms, and stamped this in Staz-on, then stamped again to give a lighter branch in the background, before colouring the blossoms with a Daffodil Delight marker. I then cut out the image with an oval from the Oval Framelits Collection and sponged around the edge with Daffodil Delight before fixing onto a square white card blank using dimensionals. Two Bashful Blue and one Pacific Point butterflies, cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die, were positioned onto the branches and the sentiment from Bloomin' Marvelous stamped at the bottom. Basic Pearls were added to the butterflies to finish the card.
When I went back to tidy up my mess I had sudden inspiration and made my second card with Summer Silhouettes.

I'm not too sure what the flowers are meant to be but these two stamps always remind me of Agapanthus which come in beautiful shades of blue - perfect!
I stamped the stem in Staz-on then the flowers in Bashful Blue and Pacific Point and matted this onto Pacific Point cardstock and then onto a square white card blank. I then added a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped in Daffodil Delight, and cut with one of the Itty Bitty Banners dies with a bow of Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon to finish. Out of the two I like this one the best - much more CAS!

Tuesday, 12 March 2013

This is the set I promised to show you, very similar to yesterday's post but using Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade. Made in exactly the same way with the addition of some little butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The wine bottle tag is from the Two Tags die with a hole punched in the top to go over the bottleneck.

Less is More and Pink!

Oh dear there is a colour challenge at LIM this week and, as you can see, it involves PINK! I have to admit that I don’t like pink – and I like working with it even less. However this is a challenge site and it was very definitely a challenge for me this morning. I have come up with two cards and in all honesty I don’t like either of them but am posting them just to show you I tried :0)

What do you think?

For this card I used the butterfly stamp from the SAB set, Bloomin’ Marvelous, and stamped in graduated colours using Rose Red (stamped off first to give a shade of pink), Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink onto Whisper White cardstock. I added some paper piercing under the butterflies using the Essentials Paper Piercing pack (another SAB freebie) and this was matted onto Naturals White cardstock which also had two rows of paper piercing. A piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon was placed over the join before layering onto a Crumb Cake card blank. A few gems and part of a sentiment from A Word for You were added to finish the card.

My second card uses Create a Cupcake stamp set and co-ordinating punch. The frosting was stamped in Pink Pirouette onto Very Vanilla cardstock and the cake case was punched from Pretty in Pink DSP. The sprinkles and bow were stamped in Melon Mambo as was the sentiment from Bring on the Cake. This was matted onto Crumb Cake and then onto a Naturals Ivory card blank before adding two tiny butterflies, cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.
Please feel free to criticise – I promise I won’t be upset :(0
Come back tomorrow for another Simples Sunday card but, until then, have a great weekend x
