LIM One Layer Revisited! (and Simples Sunday)

I said I might be back for the LIM 'One Layer-Coloured Card Blank' challenge and here I am! A really simple card (or should I say cards) this time using Summer Starfruit cardstock, stamps from Just Believe and Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamped in Staz-on. Then finished off with some scoring using the Borders Scoring Plate.
As it was so easy I made this variation on a theme but, this time, using Island Indigo cardstock with the same frame stamp but a different sentiment (also from teeny Tiny Sentiments). I inked the stamps first with Versamark and then with Night of Navy and heat embossed using clear embossing powder.
Edited to add - My apologies if you came to see a Simples Sunday card, I thought I had scheduled one but I was wrong! This card fits the bill though because it really is very simple!!!

Another challenge card - this time for the ILWS Pinterest challenge set by Leanie. (If you would like to join in, or just see other entries use the link here). This week she has chosen the card on the left made by Andrea Ewen of EwenStyle.com. The idea is to CASE the style and design of the card but using SU products. I used Basic Gray cardstock and DSP along with Whisper White Organza ribbon, Just Believe stamp set and the Bird Builder punch for the leaves. The flower is made with the small Scallop Circle punch and the scallop border cut from the Tasteful Trims Bigz XL die. A couple of hearts punched from Glimmer Paper and some loops of Baker's Twine and I ended up with something that looked like a wedding card!!!!
Back tomorrow with a punch art card x

Scientific Challenge!

Well I've certainly been set a bit of a challenge this week by a work colleague. Two of her friends have recently graduated - one is going into nursing and the other into a scientific career and she has asked me to make cards for them. The nurse/graduate card is a work in progress at the moment but, after a lot of brain racking, this is the scientific one I have come up with. I have used a stamp from Just Believe and another from Summer Silhouettes to create the 'meadow' and the Elegant Eggplant butterflies are cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The magnifying glass was made from Brushed Silver cardstock, acetate and Circle Punches and the handle was cut freehand. I added a bit of piercing around the circle and handle, again freehand, just to give a bit of texture. The sentiment is a retired one and I finished the card with a few Basic Pearls.
I will be back to show you my other graduate card when it's finished!!

From a Friend

I wanted to share a card and gift with you today that I received from a friend, all made with SU products of course!!

This beautiful card is made using the Just Believe stamp set and various punches, and the gorgeous colour scheme is Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant.
The pretty little butterflies are diecut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and the sentiment is from a retired set.
Scroll down a little to see the pressie!

A scrummy box of chocolates beautifully wrapped using brown paper which had been stamped with the retired Baroque Motifs stamp, again in Elegant Eggplant. The tag is stamped with a stamp from Mixed Medley, a set which was in the Autumn/Winter Mini, punched with a circle punch and matted onto a Scallop Circle. We always laugh at Maureen because she finds 'random stamping' very difficult but, I'm sure you'll agree, she's done a fabulous job here!
Thank you Maureen they are both lovely, and very much appreciated x

Just Believe

I made this little set for a work colleague whose birthday I missed - in truth I didn't know it was her birthday so this had to be made in a hurry to give her the following day! For the card I used two stamps from Just Believe inked with Certainly Celery and the smaller stamp stamped off to give a shadowy effect. Three flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch in Daffodil Delight and a tiny Certainly Celery butterfly, from Beautiful Wings Embosslits die, were added along with a sentiment from Happiest Birthday Wishes and then matted onto a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock. A length of So Saffron Taffeta ribbon was tied around and knotted before layering onto a card blank. I added a few Basic Pearls to finish the card. The Mini Milk Carton was made using the die and the same stamps and ribbon used for the card, with the addition of some stamps from Tiny Tags punched with the Jewelry Tag punch. I made the card below from a reject but can't for the life of me remember why I rejected it!!

Same idea but this time it was matted onto Certainly Celery DSP, with Old Olive Narrow Taffeta ribbon and just a couple of white butterflies.

COLOUR COMBO to DIE for!

Back again with some cards I am entering for two challenges - Less is More which this week is Die Cuts or Punches, and Simply Stampin' which is a colour challenge using Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White. I don't feel like I'm cheating as I've made 4 cards in all (scroll down for the 4th one) so that's an average of 2 per challenge!
I needed to make some thank you cards so I'm killing 2 birds with one stone, so to speak, and here they are. Using the aforementioned colours but swapped around to make three different cards, along with the Blossom Party die, Beautiful Wings Embosslits die and the border stamp from the SAB set, Fresh Vintage, and various thank you sentiments. After having cut the butterflies I was left with some over so made another card to use them up which you can see below.

For this I used the large foliage stamp from Just Believe, inked with Wisteria Wonder and, as I only wanted a faint background, I stamped off before stamping onto the card. I added the butterflies which were supposed to be 'scattered' but, after I had glued them, it would appear they are rather more regimented than I intended! The sentiment was supposed to be stamped directly onto the card but I managed to also ink the edge of my stamp leaving a nasty line underneath so I hastily stamped again onto a piece of cardstock and punched out with the Modern Label Punch and managed to cover up my mistake (oh, if only everything were that easy!). The butterflies, as on the ones above, were adorned with the tiniest of Basic Pearls to finish them off.
Again can I take this opportunity to thank Chrissie & Mandi and all the DT at Simply Stampin' for their brilliant challenges they really do inspire me, as do all the other entries. Also many thanks to everyone who leaves such kind comments and not forgetting a big hello to my new blog followers - I hope you enjoy visiting.
Have a lovely weekend, it's cold and damp here at the moment but they say it's going to get milder again next week - roll on spring! x

Stripes

My card for today is 'Stripes' which is this week's one-layer challenge at Less is More. I put my thinking cap on whilst I hoovered my very messy craft room (and managed to blow up my hoover into the bargain but that's another story!) and remembered my adapted 'In Stitches Wheel' and, if you haven't a clue what I'm talking about, pop over to Vicky's post here where she gives a brilliant tutorial on how to do it.
I stamped the 'stripe' three times down the side of a card blank in Basic Gray and then stamped an image from Just Believe on top using Basic Black and added a sentiment, also in Basic Black. A very CAS card which could be adapted to suit any occasion
I hope you've all managed to stay safe in the wintery weather this week and managed to get a lot of crafting done because it was too cold to go out :0) This morning I awoke to an extremely hard frost, you know the kind you see on Christmas cards, with all the trees (and cobwebs!) white and sparkly - very pretty with the sun shining on them. I haven't actually ventured out but I'm sure it's very, very cold so I think I'll stay put!
Enjoy your weekend and if you're out and about take care. x

I have been invited to a work colleague's 40th birthday bash and, not really knowing what to buy her, I plumped for a posh bottle of Cava in a sophisticated matt black bottle complete with a gold label. So I just had to make her card to match! I used a piece of the Brushed Gold cardstock with a stamp from Just Believe and the retired 'happy' stamp inked with StazOn (I also added the 'th' from a birthday sentiment which had been masked with a post-it before inking). This was matted onto Basic Black with a bow made from Basic Black satin ribbon and then onto a white card blank. I cut out some butterflies from Brushed Gold cardstock with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die and added these to the card along with the 40 from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet die. The bubbly was wrapped in cellophane and tied with Basic Black Striped Grosgrain ribbon and the tag made with the Two Tags die, Scallop Circle, 5-Petal Flower and Boho Blossoms punches and the name was written on a Modern Label punch.
What a weekend, I started off fine on Saturday morning and by the afternoon I was absolutely full of cold, coughing like mad and with a head that feels like it's about to explode. So sitting here, all wrapped up, feeling very sorry for myself having not set foot outside the door since Friday evening. Oh well at least there's a couple of things to watch on the TV tonight (thats if I can stay awake that long!!).
Hope you've all had a good weekend and I'll be back soon :0)

And another set!!

Ooooh two posts in one day and here is my entry for this week’s challenge at Simply Stampin' which is a ‘Sketch’ (see right). But before I tell you about the card I would like to say a huge thank you to the Simply Stampin’ Design Team for giving me a Top 3 spot last week for my Christmas Pillow Boxes, I will display the banner on my sidebar with pride!
Now onto the card – or should I say yet another gift set - using the very luxurious Brushed Gold cardstock, Mocha Morning Speciality DSP and Pines & Poinsettias stamp set.
First I stamped and gold embossed one of the stamps and the sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock which was then matted onto Basic Black cardstock. Two strips of Mocha Morning DSP and a strip of Basic Black, punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, were positioned onto a Brushed Gold card blank and the card topper placed on top. The ‘merry’ is from Pennant Parade and cut with the Jewelry Tag punch and some tiny Basic Pearls were added to the centres of the flowers. Of course I couldn’t just leave it there and had to make a gift box to match. This was made with the same products but using the sentiment from Just Believe and some Very Vanilla Satin ribbon to tie the top of the box.

A super-quick card for you today made with a stamp from Just Believe, stamped in Old Olive onto Whisper White, matted onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock and then onto a square white card blank. I cut three butterflies out of Perfect Plum DSP (from the paper stack) with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die added these, along with a sentiment from Style Beautiful, and job done. I told you it was quick!
Hope you all had a great weekend and I'll be back tomorrow with a Christmas card for the kids.
