Simples Sunday

Once again this week I have used the LIM challenge, a card using Diecuts, for my Simples Sunday post and this is a really simple one.
I started by paper piercing two hearts, using the Occasions Paper Piercing Pack, on a panel of white cardstock. I then added three Rich Razzleberry flowers cut with the Floral Fusions Sizzlits Die and a Basic Pearl added to the centres. A few Pistachio Pudding leaves, cut with the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die, were placed around the flowers and all that was left to do was add the sentiment from Field Flowers. Simples!!
I sincerely apologise for my distinct lack of comments on last week's entries for the LIM challenge - the week ran away with me again. I am on half term this week so (fingers crossed) I will find some time to look round all the lovely entries.
Have a good day

Yellow & Green for LIM

Firstly my apologies for the lack of posts over the last few days but we had a sudden family bereavement and, understandably, crafting has not been one of my priorities. However I did find a little time this morning to make a card for the LIM challenge which is 'Yellow & Green'.
Quite a simple card made with stamps from Summer Silhouettes (the stems and leaves), a retired sentiment and some Daffodil Delight flowers.
The larger flowers are cut from the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and the small ones from one of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I added a couple of score lines before matting onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock and a white card blank and a few Basic Pearls finished the card.
I have a feeling that my posts will be very erratic over the next couple of weeks so please bear with me and I'll be back when I can

Cherry Cobbler Birthday

I have another very simple card for you today and one which was made for a friend who loves red. I started with a panel of Whisper White matted onto Cherry Cobbler and stamped the sentiment from Sassy Salutations. I then wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine around in a criss cross shape before layering onto a white card blank. A Cherry Cobbler flower, cut from the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and a butterfly from Beautiful Wings Embosslits were positioned onto the card and it was finished off with a couple of Basic Pearls.
Back soon

Shabby & Vintage?

If you have visited my blog recently you may have seen two cards which I entered for the House of Cards October Sketch Challenge (you can see the sketch below) - one being CAS and the other Classic & Elegant styles. Well this week the style is 'Shabby & Vintage' and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever made a card in this style (well not intentionally!!) Not to be beaten I had an idea in my head and set to - whether it can be described as shabby, vintage, a mixture of both or neither remains to be seen but at least I tried.
I started with a piece of Pink Pirouette DSP and sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake then added the 'crosses' with two strips of cardstock which had been cut with the Scallop Trim Border Punch, this was then matted onto a Crumb Cake card blank. The fancy circle in the centre is from the Perfect Pennants Bigz die with a circle of DSP, cut with a Circles Collection Framelit, matted onto it and stamped with the sentiment from Field Flowers.
For the larger flowers I took a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock, distressed it with a bone folder and separated the two layers before cutting with the Floral Fusions Sizzlits die. These were sponged lightly with Crumb Cake before glueing the layers together and a Basic Pearl added to the centre. The leaves were cut from the Little Leaves Sizzlits die and the tiny flowers from one of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack. The 'ribbon' loops are pieces of Crochet Trim coloured with Pink Pirouette ink. My apologies for the long explanation but there were a lot of different components to the card and this is one I definitely won't be adding to my 'Simples Sunday' collection :0)

This is the sketch!!

A Challenge

My upline, Michelle, has set up a new forum for her team - The Pinkies - and a challenge has been set using a sketch.
I decided I'd have a go and ended up making two cards, for the simple reason that I wasn't very happy with the first one! (below)
The one on the left is using an In Colour, Gumball Green, along with Naturals White. The DSP is from the, soon to be retiring, DSP stack, the flower is made with the Floral Fusion die and the leaves punched with the Blossom Builder punch which is also retiring.
The card on the right is the one I wasn't too happy with as it looks a bit out of proportion to me, but I thought I would show you anyway.
The sentiment, Beautiful Birthday, is another stamp that will be retiring soon and this card is made using Summer Starfruit. The flower and leaves were made with the same die and punch as the card above and the ovals cut with the Ovals Collections Framelits. The scallop around the oval is made with a strip of card punched with the Scallop Borders punch.

More 3D

I have a couple of 3D items to show you today (one is unashamedly CASe'd from Vicky - details below) The first one is along the same lines of the decorated Kraft boxes I have posted before but this one uses a white (non SU) box as the base. It is decorated with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and DSP from the Polka Dot Parade pack. For the top of the box I made a flower with the White Creped Filter Paper (available in the Spring Mini), punched with the Blossom punch and sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink then fixed together with a brad (retired). The flower sits on a Large Scallop Circle and I made some paper ribbon loops with the DSP with a tag, stamped with 4U from Tiny Tags and punched with the Jewelry Tag punch. The flowers on the side of the box are made with the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and Basic Pearls.
Below is the basket which I CASe'd from Vicky (her basket can be seen here). Vicky has a brilliant tutorial on her blog for making this so do pop over and pay her a visit and look at the rest of her lovely projects while you are there! My basket is adapted a bit from Vicky's as I wanted it a bit bigger and I didn't emboss mine as it was too big for the folder!!

Kraft & Creme and a Happy Birthday at LIM

It's a beautiful sunny day here but my day is not going at all well! I got up late which has completely thrown me and, whilst having my 'wake up' coffee, I popped on to the Less is More site really hoping for a challenge that DIDN'T inspire me - that was the wrong thing to do! This week's challenge is Kraft & Creme, definitely my sort of colours, so off to make a card instead of doing the things I should be doing :0)
I used Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla with a strip of Crumb Cake DSP to make a very simple card. The flower was cut with the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and a punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Shapes pack, and the leaves are from the Bird Builder punch. Some Bakers Twine was tied around the panel and a sentiment added. The sentiment is from Pretty Petites and punched with the Petite Curly Label punch, both from the current Sale-a-Bration promotion.
As it is LIM's second birthday I decided, whilst I'd got all the supplies out, I would make a birthday card for the lovely ladies who tirelessly set the challenges each week and take the time to visit every one of us and leave a comment. So, thank you for the past 2 years ladies and here's to the next two!!!!

Supplies used - Letter It and Memorable Moments stamps, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla & Naturals Ivory cardstock, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Basic Pearls and Labels Collection Framelits

Tuesday, 29 January 2013

Today's card was inspired by a card made by Jen Nelson, a designer for LIM. My card is very different from Jen's but I liked the idea of 2 panels with the bottom one embossed and that's where the similarity stops!

I used Naturals White cardstock for both the card base and the two panels, with Cajun Craze and Certainly Celery for the colour scheme. The bottom panel is embossed with a new folder coming up in the Spring Mini and is called Honeycomb (available from 1st Feb) and the edges of both panels are sponged with Cajun Craze. The flowers were made with the Floral Fusion Sizzlits die and a punch from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, and the leaves cut with the Little Leaves Sizzlits die. A sentiment from Sassy Salutations was stamped on the top panel and a couple of small butterflies from the Beautiful Wings die were added to finish the card off.
