Classic & Elegant for HoC

Last week I entered a card for the House of Cards Challenge, using the sketch top right, to make a CAS card. I have another entry for this week's challenge which is using the same sketch but, this time, a Classic & Elegant card.
I used a piece of DSP from Modern Medley, cut diagonally, then fixed to a plain card blank to give the white 'x'. The retired SU sentiment Beautiful Birthday was stamped in Black Staz-on, cut with a Labels Collection Framelit then matted onto a larger framelit cut from Basic Black cardstock. A small loop of (retired) Basic Black Satin ribbon was glued to one side of the frame before fixing to the centre of the card using dimensionals. I added three small punched flowers, from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a Basic Rhinestone in the centre of each one.
My apologies for posting Weds card on Tuesday evening but, as this is for a challenge, I couldn't schedule it as normal because I needed to link it up to the challenge site and I can't do that when I'm not here! If you would like to see my Tuesday's 'new home' card scroll down to previous post :0)
Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back on Thursday

Simples Sunday

Today's post should have the title - Simples Sunday using Scraps because that's exactly what it is! I was asked to make a 50th birthday card the other day and these leftover oddments were lying on my desk, so what could be simpler than using pre-cut cardstock or pre-stamped images?
For my commissioned card I cut an aperture in a piece of Perfect Plum, using one of the Labels Collection Framelits, so this left me with the diecut shape which I used for the centre of this card. I stamped the now retired Beautiful Birthday sentiment onto this using Whisper White Kraft ink and stamped a couple of flower images directly onto the card blank before fixing the diecut. A few leaves from Stippled Blossoms were stamped around in Pistachio Pudding and the three diecut flowers, from Flower Shop, were arranged on top. The 'friend to friend' is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and punched with the Word Window punch.
I am always very careful to keep all my leftovers as they can be really useful if you need to put together a quick & simple card - the only trouble is, once I have tidied them up, I never seem to remember to use them!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll be back soon

A Challenge

My upline, Michelle, has set up a new forum for her team - The Pinkies - and a challenge has been set using a sketch.
I decided I'd have a go and ended up making two cards, for the simple reason that I wasn't very happy with the first one! (below)
The one on the left is using an In Colour, Gumball Green, along with Naturals White. The DSP is from the, soon to be retiring, DSP stack, the flower is made with the Floral Fusion die and the leaves punched with the Blossom Builder punch which is also retiring.
The card on the right is the one I wasn't too happy with as it looks a bit out of proportion to me, but I thought I would show you anyway.
The sentiment, Beautiful Birthday, is another stamp that will be retiring soon and this card is made using Summer Starfruit. The flower and leaves were made with the same die and punch as the card above and the ovals cut with the Ovals Collections Framelits. The scallop around the oval is made with a strip of card punched with the Scallop Borders punch.

Simples Sunday

Well they really don't get much simpler than this! I stamped the Beautiful Birthday stamp (a single wood mount stamp available at just £5.95) in Midnight Muse then cut it out using a framelit from the Apothecary Accents set. I have to admit overlooking this set until I bought it recently and I love it - such lovely shapes! This was fixed to a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock with some mini brads. I took a piece of white cardstock, slightly smaller than C6 and fixed a piece of Midnight Muse Stitched Satin ribbon leaving a loop at one end and then placed my 'label' on top with dimensionals. This was adhered to a white card blank and the card was done!! This would be good for a man as there's no fancy stuff, in fact I may give it to my Mum for my son-in-laws birthday next week!
Hope you're all having a good weekend and thanks for stopping by. Back soon x
