Five of Six

A bit of a fun card today to go with my set of six. All fairly self-explanatory I think so I'll just give you the basics. The base is a Top Note diecut which was embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder and a hole cut with a circle punch - the same circle punch was used to punch a black circle to fill in the hole. The owl was punched with the Owl Bulder punch using Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip DSP Whisper White and Basic Black. The leaves and wings were punched from the Bird Builder punch and the banner is just a thin strip of Basic Black cardstock with a non-SU pearl fixed to the top. The sentiment is a retired stamp on Very Vanilla and cut into a banner shape with scissors.

Simply Stampin' Sketch

Oh dear, my posts this weekend are a bit like buses - nothing for ages then two come along at once! I have had a bit of extra crafting time this weekend due to the fact that I had to wait for someone to come and have a look at my conservatory roof which, in all this wind, has decided to come adrift. He has now been and inspected it and has to 'send the boys in' another day - just what I needed :0)
Anyway onto the cards which I made for the Simply Stampin' challenge. The first one is made with Perfect Plum as the card base with a strip of Elegant Eggplant, cut with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, placed across the card. The central panel is a Whisper White Top Note embossed with the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, inked around the edge and glued in place onto the card base. I added two flowers to the top left corner made with the 5-Petal Flower punch and two smaller flowers in the bottom right corner punched with the Boho Blossoms punch. The sentiment is from the retired Create-a-Cupcake set.
The second card was a bit of an experiment and I'm not overly pleased with it (think the added circles were a step too far!) but thought I'd show you anyway. I made a base card with Naturals Ivory cardstock and layered on a piece of DSP from the First Edition Speciality pack which I had overstamped with images from French Foliage in Basic Black. The strip across the middle is the negative part of a piece of cardstock which had been cut with one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits dies, I used the negative part because I thought it looked more manly than the piece you are supposed to use! Three tags, stamped with Tiny Tags and cut with the Jewelry Tag punch, were added to the central strip and I think this is where I should have stopped. However, because the sketch required circles I stamped two of the French Foliage leaves and punched them out with a circle punch and overlapped these onto two slightly larger circles punched from Basic Black cardstock.

Let's 'Celebrate' Challenges

My second post today!! I am entering this card for two challenges and first of all can I say that the St.Luke's Charity Card Challenge site certainly have something to celebrate. It has now been a year since Tara set up the challenge site to raise money for the hospice who helped her during a difficult time and to celebrate they are offering a bumper prize worth over £50. They are aiming to reach 100 entries for the challenge this month which is 'A bit of bling' so why not hop over and enter a card.

I have to admit that this card was actually made for the Simply Stampin' challenge who are asking for creations using Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White. This card has been in the making since yesterday morning, I kept having a go and then, after having coloured in the sentiment, couldn't decide what to do so it was put on one side. This morning I cut it out with the Top Note die and then it was tossed aside again while I made some other cards. Inspiration struck and I decided to use the Pennant Parade stamp set to make flags in the three different colours which were punched out with the Petite Pennants Builder punch and placed across the Top Note then the small star from the same set was inked and stamped off, using all three colours, and stamped randomly to fill in the gaps. This was then matted onto Wild Wasabi cardstock and layered onto a white card blank. The sentiment, also from Pennant Parade was punched out with the Modern Label punch and some Basic Rhinestones (a bit of bling!) were added to finish the card. Oh and by the way the 'Celebrate' was one of the recent SAB stamps but no longer available and the rest of the sentiment is a stamp from the Hostess set, Happiest Birthday Wishes

Brooches

Just a very quick post today to show you some brooches I was asked to make for someone as gifts to give to her daughter's friends. They are made from felt which was cut using the Fun Flowers die and fixed together with glue and finished with an SU brad in the centre. I used a brooch pin on the back which was mounted onto a circle of matching coloured cardstock covered with Crystal Effects. I packaged them in a cellophane card bag with a topper made with the Top Note die and stamped with a sentiment and a stamp from Pines & Poinsettias. These are very simple and cheap to make but, nevertheless, make a nice little gift and you can have them to match any outfit!! 

I'm sure, like me, you will have noticed that 'Blogland' seems to be very quiet at the moment but I expect that is because all the crafters are now busy trying to get stuff done in time for the big day and crafting has had to be put on the backburner for now. Another of the birthday cards which I made for my sister and this time I was inspired by an idea in the brand new SU catalogue. It is called an Ideas Book & Catalogue because it is exactly that, not only are there fabulous products in it there are also some great ideas for using them! The base colour for this card is Wild Wasabi and this time I used the lovely textured cardstock, teamed with DSP in the same colour and Crumb Cake. The large flower was made with 5 petals stamped with one of the stamps from the Build a Blossom set and punched with the Blossom Petals punch with a circle and a button in the centre. The leaves are a piece of cardstock folded and run at a slant through the crimper before cutting with the Blossom Petals punch and the small flowers are made with Boho Blossoms and Itty Bitty Shapes punches. For the sentiment I used a stamp from Four Frames and punched out with the Decorative Label punch and then added the 'happy birthday'. For the inside I cut a piece of Whisper White with the Top Note die and stamped with a retired stamp which co-ordinates with Boho Blossoms in the corners.
